Of the seven Women’s college soccer programs in the San Antonio area, only three qualified for their respective conference tournaments.
Trinity University won another Southern Collegiate Athletic Association (SCAC) conference championship when it defeated local rivals Texas Lutheran 1-0 on Sunday.
NCAA Women’s College Cup brackets will be released on Monday, November 6. Tournament play begins next weekend at regional sites.
NCAA Division I: (Regular season conference record)
Incarnate Word Cardinals Women: (1-9-1-last place in Southland Conference)
Did not qualify for the Southland Conference tournament.
UT-San Antonio Roadrunners Women: (2-8-0-last place in Conference USA)
Did not qualify for the Conference USA tournament.
NCAA Division II:
St. Mary’s Rattlers Women: (3-9-2-6th place in Heartland Conference)
The Rattlers did not qualify for the Heartland Conference tournament.
NCAA Division III:
Schreiner Mountaineers Women: (9-2-1-2nd place in SCAC)
The Mountaineers were eliminated in the semifinal round of the SCAC tournament when they suffered a 1-0 loss to Texas Lutheran on a 61st minute goal from Raquel Morris. The SCAC tournament, where the top 3 seeds were San Antonio schools, was hosted by Centenary University in Shreveport, LA.
Texas Lutheran Bulldogs Women: (6-4-2-3rd place in SCAC)
In an all San Antonio region SCAC final, Texas Lutheran lost 1-0 to Trinity at Mayo Field in Shreveport.
Trinity Tigers Women: (9-0-0-1st place in SCAC)
A 73rd minute goal from Meredith Licata led Trinity University to a 1-0 victory over Seguin’s Texas Lutheran on Sunday, November 5. Trinity completely dominated the match outshooting the Bulldogs 22-1 and 11-0 shots on goal. Today’s championship was the ninth straight for the Tigers and 22nd overall conference title. Licata was named the conference tournament MVP
Our Lady of the Lake Saints Women: (4-6-0-7th place Red River Conference)
Finished one place below the automatic qualification line and did not participate in the Red River Conference tournament.
